Let's be real. I would love to say that I am one of those moms that has her shit together and makes these elaborate 3 course meals but that just isn't me. I am luck to have 20 min to spend cooking and you bet your ass my kids are eating on paper plates bc I don't have time to spend washing dishes either. (yes, Karen I know I shouldn't use paper plates and I won't when my kids can do their own dishes) Glad we got that out of the way... Moving on!
Meal 1: Tacos
Tip:
Buy low carb tortillas. I do not utilize these any more but when you are getting started they are a good option. SHHH your kids and/or husband won't even know the difference.
Here’s how I do it:
Make the hamburger meat and before I add the seasonings I pull 6-8 oz out for myself (most taco seasoning have cane sugar and I prefer to avoid)
Season the rest for the family
Put my taco meat in a bowl and top with my normal taco toppings. (be conscious of the amount of dairy you are using.
Meal 2: Spaghetti
Tip:
Roe's pasta sauce is a great low sugar pasta sauce and is available at most Walmarts
Here’s how I do it:
Throw your past in salted water to start cooking
Take the hamburger and take out 8 oz and throw the rest in a pan to start cooking.
With the 8oz of burger make yourself a hamburger patty.
Once everything is done cooking and before you mix it all together place your burger on a cookie sheet and top with pasta sauce then a little bit of mozzarella cheese.
Broil for 2-3 min (watch it) until your cheese is melted and enjoy
Serve with keto cheese bread or veggie.
Meal 3: Air Fryer Chicken Breast
Tip:
If you haven't invested in an air fyer now is the time. This is the one I use for my family and the basket is SO BIG I would highly recommend.
Here’s how I do it:
Season your thawed chicken breast with sugar free seasoning.
Place in the air fryer and cook for 12-14 min at 380 degrees
Make some minute made rice for the kids and husband
Get some streamable veggies out of the freezer section and throw in the microwave.
Enjoy!
I think sometimes it's easy to overthink the ketogenic lifestyle especially when your husband ands kids don't eat keto but in reality all you have to do is make small alterations the things your family already enjoys! -BB
