My journey with keto started a little differently than most. I didn't start for the fat loss benefits. I started because I was taken over by anxiety and postpartum depression. This was something I didn't share with anyone at the time. I and my OB were the only ones who knew. I did not want to take medication as my OB was suggesting so I asked her to give me a couple of weeks to try some natural remedies. At the time I had no clue what any natural remedies but knew that I had to at least give this route a try first.
Naturally, my next stop was Google. The 3rd website I opened was talking about the ketogenic lifestyle and how there have been studies that show that BHB (betahydroxbuterate) can help to increase cognitive function.

Moreover, ketones have been shown to increase mitochondrial biogenesis in the brain and lead to increased energy. At this point, I knew I had to at least give it a try. So along with starting the ketogenic diet I started using exogenous ketones. These ketones are high-quality ketones that are the most bio-available form of the isomer which means my body can actually utilize the ketones more efficiently. After a week in a half, I noticed my increase in energy and just overall cognitive function.
When my kids would go to sleep instead of sitting on the couch feeling overwhelmed and anxious I was getting things done and checking things off of my to-do list. I was starting to feel like myself again and I knew I had to keep going.
4 years later I am still going strong! The reason I am sharing this is that I want you all to know that there is much more to this lifestyle than just fat loss. It can literally give you what you need to transform your life if you allow it to. If are experiencing anxiety and or depression know that you are not alone. You can gain the control back and find the self-worth and self-love you are lacking right now.
